1. Shower at night, before bedtime.  Why is better than showering in the morning?  Firstly, it keeps your bedsheets clean.  Just think about your skin rubbing on dirty sheets all night - that’s a quick and sure way to clog some pores!  Showering at night keeps your sheets cleaner for longer too, so it reduces your laundry load.  Secondly, it helps to prevent dry skin.  If you shower in the morning, the protective oils are all washed away and your skin is more likely to crack and flake as your face begins making expressions.  If you shower at night, your face skin is relaxed for several hours before any stretching takes place again.  By the time you wake up, facial oils are back and ready to take on any smile and laughter that you give it.
2. In the shower, use a washcloth with soap to gently rub it over your face - don’t scrub hard or you could cause more damage.  To do your body, use a scrubby towel because it makes it easier to give your entire back a scrub.
3. Keep your hands off of your face!  Hands are very dirty, and every time you touch your face they are transferring that dirty to hungry, acne-producing pores.  If you feel the need to touch your face, go wash your hands with soap and water first.
4. Pimples: pop ‘em if they’re small, leave ‘em if they’re large and infected.  If they’re infected, squeezing them will most likely only delay the healing process.
5. Use sunscreen!  Anytime you are going to be outside and the sun is up (yes, even if is is overcast), be sure to apply sunscreen.  Choose healthy skin over overly-tanned and sunburned skin that can lead to melanoma.  Get the kind of sunscreen that says it is safe for facial application.
